Born in Germantown, N.Y., Apr. 10,1796. Lost an arm in War of 1812. Married Mary Baldwin in 1818; moved to Indiana where he taught school; studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1821. Was a member of the Indiana Legislature. In 1832 was appointed lighthouse keeper at St. Joseph.
